I was looking at local bulk hauling. Southeast MI area as far as maybe Toledo, northern Ohio.
So let’s say Detroit to Toledo.

I live in a city sitting on an underground salt mine. I plan on doing my own little owner op action as far as pulling an end dump or dump truck. And just wanted to start looking into what sort of rates I’d be looking at for certain commodities etc.
-
Appreciate the idea, I’ll definitely do that and check back in.
-
Wrong year to start, sorry. Check back in 12 months
-
Wasn’t planning on doing it right now but I’d like to be able to know where to go and what to do.

Whatever pays most, and it's not rocksalt.ProfessionalNoticer Thanks this.

Then you should be looking into your local area instead of the Internet.Midwest Trucker Thanks this.

Call Oakley. They probably ship rock salt

Rock salt prices change every year. Depending on supply and demand, and the weather. I thought the mine under Detroit was closed down years ago. It’s Owned by a Industrial waste water treatment company in Wayne Mi. The mine is full of equipment and machinery being stored. I’ve hauled bagged salt from a wholesaler in Dearborn years ago, when there were shortages elsewhere. I don’t think it’s a steady thing. Maybe contact the municipalities? Smaller cities? I wouldn’t know where to start. Lots of Local Dumps running around in good weather. Road work with the right dump seems to be good. $100+ per hour.

Yeah I wouldn’t even know where to start as far as the road work part.
I asked a secretary at the Macomb County Road Commission did they ever contract any work out at all and she said no. But to pretty much find out who contracts are awarded to and see about sub-contracting to them.
