If what you know about Swift was learned in here, you don't know much. I drove for Swift out of Albuquerque, because they were the only company with a local terminal that would give me a seat. I did well. Like Dog-c, started at $.26/mile, decent but rough Prostar, about 3,000miles/week for 13 months. Got to $.31/mile pretty fast. Ah, the good ol' days. 3 years ago, no driver shortage then.

They start at $.36 now, I think, with a good safety and on-time bonus plan. Look at them, but I'd say look most closely at companies with terminals fairly close to where you live.

Yeah swift has a terminal about half an hour away and I've been there and done a terminal tour, wasn't too impressed with the manager seemed like he was a jerk and hated his job. Then we went into the drivers lounge and none of the drivers in there said a word or smiled. The tour just left a bad taste in my mouth with swift. There's also a gypsum express in the same area I was looking into.

Yeah, Swift isn't a kindergarten class. That was true for me when I worked there. But when I was out, it was just me and the load, so I could care less. I don't go to terminals for buddies or to make friends. In fact, I don't go to terminals at all if I can help it for those exact reasons. I work for Conway now, the terminals are a lot more friendly, and that might bug even worse.

Don't let the want of No Touch freight keep you UN-employed , start saying things like " I want a job with only no touch loads" will end many an interview.....just saying , do your research , look at companies close by ( already been mentioned ) and don't pay too much attention to those that say you must be 23 , or experienced only need apply , put in as many apps ( in person ) as you can. Good Luck.
This is a time when the old adage " your only limits , are those you place on yourself " really rings true.

Well I mean I wouldn't say that in an interview. I would just prefer to not load or unload freight. And that's what many of my instructors have been telling me is to not look at the age requirements and still apply. I also have a DOT foods nearby as well but I've been told to not go for a company that has automatics right out of school. I still have plenty of time to do my research and make up my mind to go with a company that I feel best suites me.
