I was wondering what you guys use. My back is starting to hurt a bit and wanted to see what's the best thing out there that you guys are using. Also, what's the safest riding position? Low, mid or have the seat the furthest up it will go? Thanks

Following. Right now I have a feather pillow that helps. And a memory foam cushion on the seat bottom.

Kick it old school. Low and back with no air in any supports.
flatbeb mac Thanks this. -
I made my own lumbar cushion by cutting the leg off a pair of old uniform pants, stuffing it with the inside of a $5 pillow from walmart. This let's me make it as hard or soft as I decide. It took about 15 minutes, and no sewing. It looks like a blue tootsie roll.Dharok Thanks this.

Third down on the left advertises:
AIRHAWK SITE-BY-SITE UTV’S SEAT CUSHION
Uh really? Which site to which site are they talking about?
Have you actually tried one of these, Ridgeline, and if so, does it actually help with lumbar support? I don't see how it could, but then what do I know...... -
I think you will likely find the most comfortable position will be "chair height." In other words, with your upper legs on a 90° angle to your lower legs, or as close as is reasonable. Don't know if it would be any more safe than any other position though. There are lumbar support air seats, if you own your own rig, or can get the company to spring for a new driver's chair. If not, there are also some lumbar support cushions available. You might Google them.
I don't know about a seat cushion helping you with lumbar support. I think @Ridgeline will possibly come back and give us more information. -
Yea I 2nd the request for more information on the airhawk. I've seen @Ridgeline recommend it before but not mention if he uses it or not.

I',m an individual whose had several back surgeries and has difficulty sitting--the AirHawk cushion mentioned above is similar to ROHO air-cell cushions and for me a great relief when sitting in a car, desk chair, bleachers, or unpadded dining chair. I've purchased several styles, even the pilots cushion-they sit the same and are equally comfortable. Buy the basic version on Amazon and experiment with inflation levels. For me, the $200 cushion was no more effective than the $40-50 basic ROHO cushion. The only difference is the hand pump--inexpensive cushions come with a an 8-10" plastic pump while the pricier versions come with a pocket sized pump--simply a metal nozzle with a rubber bulb. The larger pump inflates the cushion much faster and it's much harder to loose the 8-10" pump. It takes a bit of time to get accustomed to air cell seating. ROHO cushions are medical supplies and tax deductible with a statement of medical necessity from a physician and likely covered by health insurance.

I use the "Ziraki Memory Foam Lumbar Cushion" I bought off Amazon. I love it. I've had back problems since 2000, and the shape of it helps me to sit up straight and not slouch into the seat, which is a tendency I have. My truck seat has lumbar air bags in three places, but they don't stick out enough to really be effective. This cushion does the trick for me. At under $16, it was money very well spent.
Lowlite Thanks this.
