As a company driver I usually go with the flow, though it's a rare occasion that I drag a van. I just feel like it's too easy to take advantage. Why did it take them 2 days to get you in? Did you ask for details?

It happens, but not very often. Two hours is the unwritten standard, especially with an appt. Detention does not cut it with me. The truck earns an average of $71 per hour on a 14 hour duty day( solo driver). $25 per hour detention does not cut it. IMHO detention is a silly idea shoved down drivers throats to appease them..

People still can’t read a post and comprehend the meaning. I am a company owner, own LLC, OWN AUTHORITY, OWN EQUIPMENT.

What? I thought detention was much higher than that for the company. It should be at least $75 if not double that. The higher the more likely they'll get their ##### in gear.

They had an unexpected overrun on a certain kind of apple and weren't running the ones I was hauling until they could finish up.

Company drivers get $25-hr detention. You as a Owner Operator should at least get 3x that amount.

Joetro, bzinger and Tb0n3 Thank this.

71 dollars an hour and 25 an hour detention man this guy is smoking. 2 hrs is an unwritten standard? So nothing in your rate cons that make that a binding agreement?

Booking another load on a tight schedule before your empty is never an ideal situation. We all do it sure, it's a necessary evil. Before it's done phone calls need to be made to insure appointment times are correct as well as a few follow up questions. Brokers give out bad info daily that isn't the shipper or receiver's fault. Holiday schedules are not the shippers or recievers fault. Your next appointment on a tight window is your problem not every one else's because you made the appointment. That doesn't excuse the clerks behavior and that's probably all got you unloaded.
