I have been doing this crap for thirty years... You do it your way, and I will do it the efficient way. I am out here to make money, not p i s s shippers and consignees off. And I hear it quite frequently where I work, how do I get in and out of shippers and consignees so fast? Because I have "Empathy" for the person having a bad day, even when I am. I put myself aside and do my job. You will learn. ;-)

I wonder what you achieved. Was it worth it to be a big PITA because you showed up early and busted everyone’s balls? Not really.

I’m held up by shippers all the time. They get a 2 hour window for free. Then I can apply for detention time. That’s part of my job. Whenever I get a loading appointment I’m pretty sure my company made it earlier than it is. That’s normal because “early is on-time” is a company motto. It’s just part of the game.

What you did by being a pain in the ### and ridiculously calling police is make your company look bad. Can you not handle a rude person? Learn some skills. Learn how to get what you really want.

Sounds to me like he was either too stupid to dump so that the pile DIDN'T damage anything, or they were careless while cleaning it up and blamed the damage on him.

Here's the thing... while it has changed a bit in recent times, OTR is largely filled with folks with poor people skills, and many of those well into the anti-social category. While I agree with you that empathy can be a big help, that's asking a heck of lot from most OTR guys. It's just not in their skill set.

That said, I would seriously consider burger flipping before I re-entered the door-slammer segment of trucking.
Treatment of drivers was atrocious when I went carhauling in '03, and from what I've seen on here, it's only gotten worse. It would take a mighty high-paying gig to even put dealing with warehouses back on the table as an option. And this is coming from someone who has to deal with car salesmen on a regular basis!:biggrin_2554:

If the shoe was on the other foot and lets say...

The driver walks into the receiver starts cussing and pounds both fists on the desk. I could see the receiver calling the police, but because it was the receiver that did this its not a good reason to call the police?

One is trespassing, the other is not. So yes, there's a difference.

I had the big boss at a receiver cone out and tell me " If you can't get into that dock, you're the worst truck driver in the United States. "
Then went on to add " I absolutely will not unload you off site, you can just take the #### back to Phoenix. "

Didn't even say good morning, what's the situation, just came off with that BS, and a huge attitude.

Had to stand up to him, the agent, and Landstar itself.

Come to find out the trailer I had, had been high centered on a RR crossing about a year ago. It had the landing gear replaced, with the wrong ones, and now only had maybe 5" clearance.

    SO

After they all insult my ancestors for 4 or 5 hours, Landstar figures it out, and everyone is extremely apologetic.

Told everyone involved to take their aplogies and shove them in their #####.

Told that agent never call me again, I don't give a F what it is. And I'd done probably 6 loads for him to that point.

You will get no argument from me on anything you stated. I have a degree in nursing, used to work in surgery, orthopedics and trauma, US Navy Corpsman to boot along with a few years in the oil fields of Alaska and North Dakota... I have been there, and done that, short of combat, and I respect those MEN. Trucking is not a job for sissies, I own my sheet, so I have a vested interest. The door slammers, and i was one, I cannot comment on, as they are a different breed. I was raised, not jerked up. ;-)
