You can work for a thousand bosses in a thousand different jobs. But all of them has to have a working log for your total onduty hours.
You just cannot drive after you have been onduty until you have a certain amount of time at home off duty or in the sleeper berth.
There is no limitations or maximum hours you can work a week. You can do all 168 and it's legal. You just cannot drive until you have had 8 or 10 off and have the hours left to do it next day on your recap against your weekly 8 day total of 70 hours of service.

Another catch is you will be in two drug testing pools. No biggie, but might get annoying if you keep getting picked.
The big deal. I have yet to see a company that, by policy, will allow this. While I'm sure there are some, make absolutely sure both companies will allow driving for another carrier.Last edited: Feb 19, 2019

I stayed away from 395 in my answers (TO THIS QUESTION ONLY) because those regulations can be confusing and to be honest without some way to force compliance not generally followed. This is why I couched my comments by getting enough rest to safely operate a CMV.
The danger though is when something happens to cause an investigation into your life and schedule. The primary thing is a lawsuit and discovery. Back a few years ago while I was working local I had a job helping ferry rental cars back to Atlanta and sometimes from Atlanta! Sometimes we would start early on a Saturday and a guy would chase us in a van and then we would load up and head to the next location to ferry. I would sometimes be up 24+ hours doing this. When I was doing repos I sometime would fly to a city meet up with someone and go get the Truck. I was always over on my 70. To be honest it was not until I got much older I even paid any attention to that week clock.
Unless you are a Compliance Specialist, safety geek or a TTR rules wonk you don't know these rules are even in the green book.brian991219 Thanks this. -
The answer is, YES, you can drive part time for another company.

On topic, excellent advice and I like how you handled the question. Spot on as usual. Carry on. -
