D13 Rebuild

It went back out on the road last Thursday. Too late now.

I'll ask what he had in it for parts, and what all he did.

 

On another unrelated subject, kinda related. The one wrench was taking apart the DPF's on a Cascadia ( Detroit DD15 ) yesterday. There are two. I thought that whole thing was the " One Box ". It's not.

It will eat TWO DPF's plus the " One Box " in time. The " One Box " is $8K.

He was doing a DPF service to it. He said it's 4 hours labor, and $300 to $500 for the filter bakes. So that's about the same as a D13 DPF service every 18 months.

But this " One Box " POS. That's scary. It looks like an oil cooler to me, it mounts on the top / side of the DPF canister, and I guess it's the brain.

 

$12K for the in house in frame, without injectors.
$10K in parts.

 

I believe so. The only place I see delivering parts is Vanguard or Freightliner or the tire place.
