you've been around the two engines and don't already know this?
The isx has a dramatically shorter lifespan before inframe. Not to mention the problem with the block castings and the rod pitching issue.
Volvo D13 is far far ahead of the ISX in longevity.Socal Xpress Thanks this. -
The Turbo Compounding will be available later this year, I work for a Volvo dealer and we are not offering it for sale yet, but it will be available to order soon.

dealer will say to you that is saves over 6% of fuel, but really fuel economy is about 4-5%. Is it enought to compensate reduced reliability... I cant say

More complicated machinery and moving parts, more things to break down. Same with I-shift vs simple manual.

Must remember that this is similar to how helicopters capture turbine energy to power all the mechanical working. I wouldn't say it's extremely new.. Only to trucking.
We'll see but I know Volvo has a dang good R&D ... I doubt the first 500k is anything to worry about. -
