D16 exhaust smell?

Anyone ever run into an exhaust smell from the front of a d16? I'm thinking EGR cross over pipe gaskets but can't pin point it...i can smell if when i stand beside the frame rails mainly front right side of the motor/fan [little less on the left side] area but physically cant see anything a miss.

The exhaust fumes are getting into the cab with hood closed and its avoiding my detection....yes it has a new flex pipe, yes it has a new EGR cooler, yes it has a new DPF gasket.....even if they all had tiny leaks it wouldn't equate to the exhaust smell coming into the cab.

Its actually for a none commercial project and is never going to haul a trailer again....honestly it problably will outlast me for what its going to do next. The D16 is not the best engine in the world and over kill for the project but for the price i payed and being a mechanic, i can afford to pit a few hours into it.

 

Havent had the chance to look as its been pissing rain here for 2 days straight......weather is supposed to clear today so ill get a look finally.

 

Ok your close.....in this case EGR valve gasket were it mounts to the manifold and possibly the rear most exhaust manifold gasket but i would have to remove the dog house to get a really good look at it [not sure if its oil residue or soot at this point].
