Well Do to some bad dealings with a major trucking company I have uncovered some info I feel all truck drivers need to see. This is just not for comapny driver Owner operators you better read and look into this also.
DAC Reports are the legal?
Dac reports are ownered by a 3rd party, Hireright of Irvine, CA. This company is contracted to other companies, I.E. trucking frims, to obtain all information on all your driving jobs and share this with companies you apply for. Basicly companies report info to them and companies you apply for call them and ge the info. In other words the compnay you are trying to work for is to lazy to call your other employers. My questions is do they have the right to share that information? This is your private info. Now I have been on both sides of the fence here. I owned a trucking company for 11 years, ran another for 5 years and now just work as a driver. so i see this problem from 3 sides. This is a huge lawsuit waiting to happen, but in the mean time drivers, good driver are losing good jobs because of this Nazi one sided reporting system that in my eye s is totally illegal.
Ask your self driver, did you ever sign anything to give this Hireright company the right to gather you info or to give your info out? Did you ever sign a paper sayig it was ok for your employers to give a third party your private info? We are talking SS number, drivers licience number, home address, phone numbers ect ect ect.
This company hands your info out to any one who fax's them a release with a signature on it. Did Hireright every have you send a paper in to them with your signature with a notarized stamp and signature on it? I called them and investigated this place. They will release your info with a fax release but have to send your copy to a mail box. How do they know it is you who are askign for it. I had mine sent to an address that was not even the same as on my DAC report and they sent it. So now a person can call them, use your name and have your report sent to another address and they have your indenty.
As i confornted Hirewright with more and more question, they seem to have less and less security than people in our business should have.
What even puzzled me more is how they got my information in the 1st place, as i was told by Hireright that they are no more than a storage cabinet that stores info on drivers. Well I not sure about all of you but my file cabinet does not give out my info when someone unknow to me ask. All the information that they Have was supplied to them by trucking companies. WTF! You are telling me that Companies are handing you personal info out to a thirds party comapny? PEOPLE this is illegal, under the privacy act your employer can not give out private and personal info. As an former employer if someone calls me and asks if you worked for me, BY LAW all i can tell them is Yes or No you worked for me and the dates.
Thats it, nothing more. But yet this HireRight Company have very detailed info on you. This should concern all, EVERYONE. Comapnies are illegally handing out private info.
HireRight and their Nazi Dac reports are not a goverment agency, they have no authorization from you or the goverment to collect and or hand out info and need to be stopped.
Owner operators thing this don't apply to you, WRONG. We ran my father thru the Dac system and he was in there. An owner operator for 27 years has a Dac Report. WHY? because not only are trucking companies reporting your info, so are carriers and shippers.
THIS MUST STOP! Take a stand.
