You're good to go, schlepper004! With only one minor thing on your DL, your background checks should not form an impediment to the hiring process. BBMYLS2GO was 100% right: any company that wants to run a credit or background check on you must have your legal signature on a release statement ("I the undersigned authorize Company X to access this report, etcetc.) before they can run it.
DAC Services (now USIS, Inc.) collects a variety of records from many different kinds of companies. Bad credit or no credit possibly may prevent you from signing up for a company's lease-purchase program, but not from getting hired, I wouldn't think.
The only records DAC has on file that should concern drivers seeking new employment are:
1.) records of previous employment with other trucking companies, and
2.) criminal records.
As it stands now, if you haven't worked for anyone yet, both of your DAC reports for 1.) & 2.) should be empty. Most big trucking companies can access the national MVR database, so they don't rely on DAC for this info.
On a personal note, I worked for Swift for 2 months in 2006, which was my 1st (and last) OTR driving job. When I quit (long sordid story, don't ask) they reported to DAC that they had fired me and also reported an accident that did not happen. I had to go through the appeal process to have the accident record removed from my DAC report, which took about a month. During that time I missed out on a couple of good job opportunities. This is why it's always a good idea to know what's on your DAC before you apply for a job.

I just got my usis report back. On the Transportation Employment History page, under the Accident/Incident Record, it reads as follows;
Equipment was involved in an occurrence or act that produced unintentional injury, death, property damage of any type, or resulted in the equipment requiring a tow (other than mechanical breakdown) while assigned to the driver regardless of fault. Adverse information is reported for 7 years.
Number of DOT Recordable accidents less than 7 years old: 0
Number of Non DOT recordable Accidents/Incidents less than 7 years old: 0
No additional accident/incident information available.
[ END OF REPORT ]
I left a company during my second week of training. I just called dispatch and said I was getting out in Madison, leaving my trainer to continue to the east coast with our load. I sent a letter explaining why I decided to leave a couple days later, along with a fuel card (unactivated). I wasn't issued any equipment, in fact I had to buy the hard hat which I left behind.
So what is this report actually saying...? Does the script at the begining indicate that I did one of those bad things, or is the line saying that I had "zero" accidents/incidents, DOT Recordable or otherwise mean my record's clean? Welcome your coments. -
POSSIBLY, what they are saying is that since YOU left your trainer while under-load, YOU abandoned the vehicle requiring the company to put another driver in the truck. Truck Abandonment is a REAL SERIOUS offense. -
I didn't read that at all. What it says is 1st a description of what is reported THEN how many you have. Which is none.
If the company you left had done a report you will see a separet area where company "A" report your time there. Depending on WHY you left would depend on if they would bother even reporting anything.Last edited: Jan 17, 2009

That report does not say he abandoned a truck.
