Yes, you didn't follow company policy.
Company policy is don't be late and don't refuse loads.

they also check your criminal background as well, having a clean mvr is just a small part of the hiring process these days

This is another very good reason to research companies before taking a chance on messing your cdl up and wasting time & job history on a bad company .....DAC is used as a weapon against the driver if you choose to take a bet on the wrong trucking company .....some call them starter companies ,i call them welfare trucking

DAC gets 'Termination Reports' from the carriers who use their services.

When I used to fill them out each one was $2.50 off your monthly bill. this how DAC builds their info on drivers.

Companies who subscribe to the whole package get a response when getting the driver's abstract telling them that there is prior history in the system.

After the earliest lawsuits the form was reduced to a bunch of check boxes to limit what anyone can say about a former driver. U

n-fortunately the people who use DAC daily learn how to 'read between the lines' based on what IS reported.

As described on here 'abandoning a rig', 'quit without notice' and 'not eligible for re-hire' make them look harder and 'personal contact requested' can be the kiss of death.

Personal responses to prior employment checks sent from carrier to carrier leave room for more input though most of the major carriers only confirm dates, # of accidents & the drug and alcohol questions required by the FMCSA to avoid lawsuits.

If you are a member of the OOIDA, contact them for any lists of trucking specific lawyers, in or near your area. In fact OOIDA has lawyers that write a column, you could even send an email with some questions.

The rule for filing on DAC use to say that only a direct supervisor could report on a driver, and that if that person for whatever reason was no longer at a company to back up what they add then I had to be removed. Another reason things are removed is if a company goes out of business. Once a company goes under all info from that company is supposed to be removed from DAC in 6 months.
I have worked for a total of 2 companys in over 20 years that use this service. The main reason why many do is as a clearing house for background checks and for employment history, it is much faster for a company to contact one place to get all the info they can. And they get a credit on what they owe by adding info.

I think that DAC/ hireright will go out of business eventually, due to ease of information gathering these days it is an outdated system.
