    Actually , all CMV drivers are required to have a copy of the FMCSA handbook in their possession . If you don't have one most fuel stops sell them . The problem is they are shrink wrapped and you can't tell if they are the latest edition . JJ Keller gives the updates on their website .

    I'd heard that was the source of that ruling.

    Of course, the book also says that if you are involved in emergency services, theHOS doesn't apply to you. Not that I'm likely to throw a hissyfit at some DOT officer on those grounds. I'd just call my boss who can call DOTs boss,and we'll all be happy.

    Rick's right about working after driving. the regs are there to keep roads safe, they have little regard for what happens elsewhere.

    and if we want to get picky, you can actually drive 13.75 hours in a 24 hour period (as has been discussed a number of times elsewhere)
