Sitting at the Admiral hotel here in Dallas, start orientation in the morning. I'll try and post when I can, just to provide a little information on how things go here for future drivers. Pretty excited to finally get this going and start making some money. Be safe.

    Treefork Thanks this.

Best of luck Lone Star. Looking forward to your posts concerning training. The instructor you will have was my in-truck trainer 7 years ago. Hopefully you will find him a good instructor. I will look you up when I get into the terminal next weekend after Thanksgiving and see how it's going.

Sitting at rest area on I-35 north of Austin, TX heading south. Glad I'm not trying to get north tonight. Very bad accident around 12:30 today in Temple. 4 18 wheelers and 9 cars involved in a narrow construction area. One car was crushed like a piece of foil underneath a intermodel trailer according to pictures on line. Traffic was backed up 13 miles when I came through around 5:30 and it is getting worse (listening to CB). Learn now to slow down, stay back and know what is happening. Don't let someone's stupidity cause you problems. Texas is great for truck drivers that have to always push the envelope and be in a big hurry.

Three days of Orientation completed, so far so good. Monday was alot of paperwork, abilities testing, DOT physical if you needed it and drug testing (urinalysis and hair follicle testing). Tuesday was classroom training. Wednesday was backing in the yard and road driving. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be more backing and road driving. Monday we will take our final road test and graduate. Tuesday is an off day and hopefully Wednesday we will get our trainers (at least I hope). There are 4 people in this class, 3 students and 1 experienced driver. Orientation is kind of like a mini truck driving school, you will learn to do things Roehl's way, at first it may not make sense, but after doing it, makes perfect sense. The instructors are pretty cool, there is one for the students and one for the experienced drivers, if you pay attention and do things the way your taught, you will have no problems. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and be safe.

Thanks TexasPhoenix, feel good about it, very sure that all 3 of us will pass. Then it's time for the big wait, how long until we get our trainers. I hope it doesn't take too long, real anxious to get this done and get my own truck.

You'll get in your own truck soon enough. Then the REAL lessons begin in the WWT (wonderful world of trucking) classroom.

Phase 1 is completed, all 3 of us passed the final road test. Now we play the big waiting game, until tomorrow at 11 am when we call our Fleet Managers to find out when we go out with our trainers. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later.

Just got off the phone with my Fleet Manager and got the response I expected. Just hold tight until we can get you a trainer, DARN!!! I fully understand, but if I had my choice I would much rather sit at the house in Austin, TX vice the Admiral Hotel in Dallas, TX. So I will just hang out until they get it all sorted out and see what happens. Hopefully it won't take too long. Everyone be safe out there.
