Dangerous driver

Would you have been ok with it if he clipped your wife and kids while they were driving along side of him?

There is a line between tattling on a driver and notifying authorities of a seriously impaired driver. He may not even have been intoxicated of sorts he could have been ill. For all you know the driver may have been having heart trouble or some serious health issue in which he may have needed assistance.

Guess it was a good lesson to learn while you were in school but I feel as if your instructor was surely in the wrong for not having reported it let alone speaking to your group about it. In the future be sure to access the situation and speak up if need be. Next time you could be saving lives!

Also if a driver is hitting things and not stopping then that is definitely grounds for reporting it to the authorities. Like I said had that been another vehicle someone could have been seriously hurt, injured or killed!

 

From what I remember seeing about at least Oregon's DOT Physical requirements Insulin dependent is cause for a failure of the physical. Although going onto Oregon DMV's site it appears that there might be a waiver or something that you can possibly get from a doctor and qualify..... No real clue, probably a way around it though.

 

Not bashing you man, but next time you will know whether you should speak up or not. There are many other things out there that you should always be aware of and if need be report the situation at hand. You will be covering a lot of ground out there and seeing a lot of things from day to day so keep your eyes open and pay attention to your surroundings. Like I said before it could end up saving a life if not your own one day!

FMCSA created an "exemption" years ago for some insulin dependant diabetics.

 

Going thru Chicago a couple weeks back a Schaeffer driver was tailgating everyone he was behind. I know people always tailgate in Chicago, but he was less than 10 feet from the rear of both trucks and cars he was behind and driving erratic. I called his safety department, I hate ratting on a guy, but sooner or later that driver will kill someone. Anymore we need to call in very unsafe drivers, they give the rest of us doing it right a bad name.

 

I'd call in a heartbeat. 'Brotherhood' doesn't apply when you put my life or the life of a motorist in danger.

It boggles my mind that the NIT-WIT that is posing as an instructor didn't at least notify CPD, and then let the folks at the fuel island know that a hit and run had just occurred...That is as poor an excuse for a driving instructor that there has to be. Not only did he not report an accident he didn't even tell you students that what you just witnessed was a prime example of what not to do. No wonder so many students get thrown out into the trucking world have so many questions...seems that the training some are getting is terrible.
