IMO the best way to really find out is to talk to a few drivers... if you can visit one of their terminals and hang out in the breakdown room or in the yard, shop, etc...![]()

If your truck smells like smoke or it has any other nasty smell in it, change out the cabin air filters! They cost like $15 a piece and it makes a world of difference! Obviously you still need to scrub the truck down real good and clean it out real good before changing the filters, but trust me it will help so much in getting bad smells out of the truck.Last edited: Feb 3, 2022
Rocks Thanks this. -
I saw in another thread that Dockbumper got banned from the forum, does anyone know why? That's a real shame because while I didn't go to Danny Herman, he was nice enough to answer all of my questions that I had about the company.
Rocks Thanks this. -
@Rocks sorry to hear you haven't been able to get on board yet. Perhaps you could go a company that doesn't require you to go through training all over again, put in a year with them and then move on to greener pastors since you would then have a years worth of recent experience?
I went through training once and my trainer was a great guy and helped me out a lot even after I upgraded to my own truck when finishing training. But even then, I could never do a month with a trainer again and live with someone in that small confined space (and a stranger nonetheless). It's so dumb these insurance companies want people to go through training all over again because they took a few years off, as if you forgot how to do the job or something.Rocks Thanks this. -
Yeah... @REO6205 wrote in this same thread that he was no longer a member... I asked what happened but got no answer...

Shoot if someone did that to me, first thing I would assume is that the person asking is a plant from the company. I certainly wouldn't say anything bad about my company in the company break room. Call me paranoid. Plus drivers are such emotional basket-cases, you'd have to be careful to only ask very objective questions with measurable, objective answers.Rocks Thanks this.

I never had any problem asking drivers n getting answers. Was always able to have good conversations with them. Have spent whole afternoons in companies' terminals and even had a couple of drivers, husband n wife inviting me to their truck...
Don't feel awkward or intimidated... just start a conversation, be honest n ask all you want to know. Some drivers may not talk, others will tell you everything n much more... I even carry a notebook n write all their answers... n many drivers even agree with me that's the best way to know about a company n wish they had done that before...
Just realize you will get many different drivers with many different opinions but that will help you to make your decision better than talking to a recruiter. -
BTW, yes, you have to know the questions you want to ask.
Me, I have a list of almost 80 questions.... which I have practically memorized....
But my questions are not only for the drivers but also to the company people, safety, dispatcher, maintenance, breakdown, mechanics, etc... -
