From what I've read, it's paid at $1 per mile + FSC and .91cpm empty. To low a rate to be paying a fixed cost of $1,000+ a week. One would have to be paid at least $1.50+ per mile to even make it worth it. I read where many pure O/O wont haul a load under $1.85 a mile. These Lease Purchase Companies lure Drivers in with a false sense of ownership with Slave wadges.

I'm leasing at Henderson/Prime.(leasing since november 2015) We get 75% of load. It works good when the rates are good but lately the rates are low so I may go back to being company.

That's what many Lease Renters find themselves doing. I too was suckered into a L/O with Stevens around four Years ago. Unless a Lease allows you to go where ever you wish and haul any load, from anywhere.... RUN!!! Only a third party, independent of a Company Lease should ever be considered. Then only as a last resort. Always the best choice would be to stay Company, save your money (I saved up 30K in 1.5 years) and then buy your own Truck and go pure O/O. Anything else and you're just renting a Truck you'll never (95% chance) own. Even then, owning your own Truck is very risky. Look at it as in Music/Acting. Very few make it big, some just get by and most fail.

High Rates/High Fuel. Low Rates/Low Fuel. I have seen this trend. Maybe I am wrong? It's pretty much a Win/Win for the Lease Company and a Lose/Lose for the Renter.

Most leases are as you say, that is why you research. I was in a lease where it was mileage, but, it was drop and hook mostly and no limit on the miles. One week I pulled down over $3000 after exp before taxes. I also during that week made $17,000 at a casino in Calera, Ok. That was $20k in one week. they went to eld's and I am no longer there. I also trade stock options. I can make money if the truck sits. The problem with most leases is they try to limit your revenue and "allow" you to run only 2200 miles or so. You can make money at leases. They also get upset when you show them your computer and you are making 2-3 times what they want you to make by not rolling their cheap load. At that same job, I had owner ops coming up and asking me if I was making money (they liked to wait for that special load). I would run 2600 miles (d&H) and they would still be sitting there when I hit the yard.

Seems like you have to train newbies to make money at these megas that lease trucks paying by mile. I just can't do that type of lease. Seems like solo drivers would barely make $600 to $700 a week. Thats how TransAm lease was. You only made money if you train.
I lease here at Henderson pulling Prime trailers. We get 75% of load. Loads been sucking lately but they recently closed their cdl driving school so the competition with company trucks should help us lease guys shortly.

That is very true. These Companies get these new Drivers that believe everything they're told. The dream of making good money and being your own Boss is very appealing. I too fell for the scam. I walked away from a job paying 60-70K a year plus a free $14,400/yr benefit package to be a Driver. It was a huge surprise at what we really get paid for our time.

These Companies are use to getting these people in that are desperate for anything and think 36K is a awesome wadge. So they con them into a Lease, where you're just paying them to operate their Equipment.

Best advice I can give is no different than what others will tell you. Stay Company, learn the business and save, save, save! Buy your own older Truck and go from there. All these Lease programs are designed to favor the Company only. Sure they'll allow a few to succeed, so they have a Marketing tool and figures to show in Class. Most lose their Butts and quit Trucking.

Every Company Driver (at a decent place) should earn between 48-65K. A O/O 75-100K+ and L/O around the same. A L/O should never earn less than a Company Driver.

Braylean and Jazzy J Thank this.
