If I'm not mistaken, you have to have to put notification on your truck that you may be video recording. I'm trying to find more info on this.

 

I never seen US Xpress trucks with notice on their trucks they are equiped with video recording devices.
The only problem I see is at the border. There it might be a problem.

Citizens and the ACLU have taken Florida to the courts and won numerous times for arrest stemming from video taping in public, one person charged with the wiretap law in Florida won 100,000.00 in a settlement.

 

There is a difference between the two.

 

I am old so sometimes you need to explain and type slow.

 

They were filming openly and in public.

Taxi, fire, police are only some that have them.

They are not used for public.

 

Oh ok see that I understand, from what the ACLU found is that recording by 3rd parties and other legal mumbo jumbo involved was illegal. Not being a legal Bengali myself by any stretch of the imagination I was researching it last week.

Come to find out the popo can still throw charges at you for wire tapping in some places, but the Federal Courts are tossing them out on appeal.

If I were to install a cam which is under consideration I would not say a word to anyone about it.

 

I would not even tell an officer.

 

Same here, kind of tossing in the face of a law dog and that confrontation never ends well for the citizen.

 

In Illinois it is a felony to record law enforcement without them knowing it. This is the only state that we have found so far that has that stringent of a law. In some other states it is illegal to record someone in a private setting without their knowledge. But this "private setting" law has never applied to road recording that I have found. Best thing to do is CYA and buy one that comes with a vinyl sticker for the windows that says something to the effect of "Video surveillance in use" or similar. And if I got pulled over in Illinois the first thing out of my mouth would be to tell him that there is video recording going on so that the officer knows immediately and has the option now to tell you to turn it off.
