Just depends on where you are. If you do this long enough and you'll see Coyote or their customers dig really deep when they have to. Same as any of them will.

Is anyone using DAT LaneMakers or DAT RateView tools in DAT Power? Most likely gimmicks ...I don't know how much they cost yet but I am kind of itching to try them.

I've been using rate view since it's as recent as 15 days. I like it. It's been close to spot on in a lot of areas. You know real quick if you're being lowballed badly. I don't use it to quote outbound rates but I will for inbounds. Never used lane makers before dunno about it.

I've plan based on the Hot Maps and I think is definitely backed by real data. The problem I've had with the Hot Maps is that it changes colors a lot. I mean is very Dynamic, as trucking is. And I've had times when I plan a load based on a hot zone and when I get there, it's colder than ice.
I think it's a good tool, but I can't rely on it 100%, is just an approximation.

I just signed up for DAT loadboard ($45/mo deal). I consider this as a guide, more than an actual fact checking tool wrt rates.

Im compiling loads in/out of my area and this will help me "learn the lanes".

Everything in business (read: profit) is about INFORMATION ASYMMETRY.

If I can reduce the degree of this asymmetry, the better the chance I will reduce chances of being in the red

@nax that's what I was thinking with planning the loads. If I could plan or have better ways to search for the correct loads, then it would reduce the risk of the business and therefore have better results in the end. But I'm trying to find what's the best way to this or what are the best tools to help me with the task.

You get what you pay for and good information isn't free. DAT's $45 basic loadboard leaves a lot to be desired.

@rollin coal I completely understand that I don't have "the best money can buy"...but right now, that's good enough for what I need.

When I'm fully operational then I will consider the top tier tool (which I would like to know what it btw)

You mean Navisphere for CH I presume? What's the XPO emails, I get load lists from them, is this what you mean? That's some good advice, anything else like this would be useful to know.
