When reading posts on good and bad companies be sure to check out the date of the post. 2009 was an awful year for the trucking industry. No company wanted to let drivers go and pay unemployment tax, then have to re-hire drivers for the "big recovery" of 2010 that never happened. I know of quite a few otherwise great companies that just didn't give drivers miles in 09. And, they had a hell of a time getting some drivers home. Things have gotten better and you should try to look for patterns and trends in 2010 and 2011 posts.
Also, if you go to Quick Transport Solutions' website you can look up companies by state and get to their safety info, number of trucks and miles driven per year. Do some math. It isn't a perfect science. You don't know the percentage of team drivers, day cabs and pick-ups with DOT numbers, but it's a place to start.
Just my thoughts,
