Some times they plug fast, some slow.

However the davco works on vacuum. You fill the housing full. Start it to make sure air is out. After a few minutes crack the top cap and watch the level go down. When it's a inch above the bottom tighten cap. This is the proper procedure. But dont let it go to low. You will need to start over.

So fill it all the way to the top, start it....make sure air is out. While running, open the top and watch it fall?

If your fuel level is low you are fine. When the bowl is full your filter is clogged.

Might have a bad back flow valve.

So, the ball I changed had no effect ? Makes me think the housing itself may be bad and not just the ball and spring that I just changed . Intetesting

Ok, Ive been doing it wrong all along! Also when you fill it with fuel can you use a bottle of Lucas or Power service instead of fuel?

Sorry , I would never do what he said unless your timing is right . I ain't no mech but I have been changing filters for 10yrs . If your timing ain't right and you get air sucked in , that truck will cut off . Already , it will act as tho it wants to cut off with the top off and it running .A bunch of starting fluid might wake it up . I just fill it to the max . 500 miles later it comes down to normal level

I only use clean fuel. I save the power service for cold/or freeze up.
