When I got the truck, within the first 150 miles, the passenger side steer almost fell off. Yes, picked it up at Freightliner of Arizona for the Criminally Insane. Outstanding prep job wouldn't you say?

So I had two guys tighten the nuts at a little shop. Too late, Rim was damaged, I drove it like that for awhile, until the hub started breaking ( the guides starting falling off ), so I don't think it rolled true for awhile.

So anyway, Landstar has great discounts. I'm going to get a set of steers before summer, probably in April. I'm on the fence for Conti's or Goodyear's.

The heat here is so extreme. And I leave, either go through the scorching desert, or, and then right through the mountains.

It really burns my ###, cause I play the maintenance / lets see how long I can make something last game, and I'm sure I'd gotten 2 or 3 years outta those steers, 2 for sure.

Have one of the shop monkeys swap the front and rear drives, see if you can even out that wear.

    Okay. 61,000 mile update.

Front & rear drives are at 19/32's.
    Wearing evenly, all tires.

    Steers are at 13/32's.
    Passenger steer is wearing even.
Driver steer has 1 rib that's wearing deeper than the others in spots.

    80,500 mile update.

3 axle alignment done at 63,000 miles.
New front shocks installed last PM ( 10,500 ago )

Drives are at 16/32. All wearing evenly. Rotated second time last PM.

Yoko's steers went in garbage at 63,000 after alignment & rotation due to driver side wearing WHACKED on 1 rib ( 2nd to outside, then outside cupping ). After rotation almost shook my liver loose between 50 & 60.

Got Goodyear's & Centramatics. Now have 17,000 on steers ( 110 PSI ). 12/32. Wearing evenly, but seems pretty fast considering they started at 18/32.

    The saga unfolds.

Who's your tire guy? Go see Chris at Blue Ribbon Tire, 24th Ave & Mc Dowell.
He took over the business from his dad and has alot of knowledge. I've been going there for 20 years now.
Holy crap, I've been doing this for 20 yrs!!!!

I have noticed the rubber on these steers is incredibly soft.

It's better, wasn't all bad before. I just saw that tire going whacked, it was just one rib.
Had shaking at like 45 to 50, seemed like almost always in 9th, of course that's the speed your going in 9th.
So after he rotated them, shook like 19 mofo's at 50 to 60. All the vibration went away in 9th, and actually zoom up hills faster, cause before I'd get the vibration and back off or go down to 8th.
Dude said everything looked good. He thinks not enough miles to be kingpins.
He said the left one was a bit loose but tightened up when lubed.

Had it done at Glendale Laser Alignment.

    Bakerman Thanks this.

It is once again time to update the tire wear thread.

    100,000 miles.

Casper also has now clocked 100,000.

Steers are at like 37,000. Both 13/32. Seem like they are wearing fast to me. Gonna see @Bakerman 's guy in the future.

Drives are at 100,000. Wearing evenly. Been through two rotations.
Fronts are at 16/32. Rears are at 15/32.
