I'll have one year's experience at the end of october here and I'm looking for a company that pays better than what I average now which is about 650 a week full time otr. And I stay out 3 to 4 months at a time before taking time off. I don't mind night driving at all. I actually prefer it with the exception of the part where I have to find a shipper or receiver. Don't like trying to find places in the dark, but driving on the highway at night is something I prefer. Less traffic. My concern with this company is the pay. I'm looking for something that can get me a grand a week net. 800 a week net would still get me, but I hate living in a truck for less than that. I've also heard that publix has a habit of keeping drivers there for long periods of time. I delivered to a publix distribution center in lakeland a few weeks back. Arrived at 5pm and didn't leave until a little after midnight.

I spoke to Tad a recruiter for Davis Express They require you to apply for a TWIC card during orientation if you don't already have one.You must do a Functional Capacity Test and I've done them before and there a real workout so if your older like me they can be difficult. They have dash cams in all tractors that look record forward and to the sides and the one I'm concerned about is the one that's pointed inside the cab thats watching the driver.I'm not sure about all the details regarding the in cab camera but I like my privacy and if this camera is on all the time that's a concern for me.Sounds like some legal issues concerning invasion of privacy laws here. That's all I've been told so far but I'm having second thoughts about attending orientation with this company.Good Luck drivers and be safe

Camera watching me all the time is a no no. I know folks will always say such and such doesn't matter as long as you're not doing anything wrong, but I don't care. It ain't about doing anything wrong. It's about some modicum of privacy whenever we need to do private things. The inside of that truck is basically a home away from home. That makes me uncomfortable.
OPUS 7 and longbedGTs Thank this. -
