Congrats, Emton. I've been following your progress here for quite a while, and I'm happy to hear you passed and are ready to go. I wish you all the best not only for now, but in the future. I hope you'll continue to keep us updated on your training with U2.

Did you beat the storm? We had some pretty strong storms in the St Joseph area last night. I hope you made it safely to your destination. ~Hugs~

tracking down the owner might not be a good idea. my brother in law no longer works for him due to not being paid his last month there. after being one his top drivers for 15 years, following in his own dad's footsteps for the same guy. so it's either use brother in law for reference or i'm screwed.

with all the corporations shutting down. that's going to be tough for a lot of people to have any job references.
10 years job listing on application. ummmm. 10 years ago i worked for the country's #2 electronics retailer. best buy is the only game in town now.

the way the economy goes up and down. better start saving your w-2's for 10 years. that's the only thing you'll have left for job verification.

Thanks to everyone for the congratulations. I did beat that nasty storm. It didn't roll through until midnight. Left early this morning for home and heard from U2 that he'll be picking me up sometime Sunday. So I'm gonna enjoy the hometime and get back to ya'll from the road.

Keep the faith and stay safe!

Well, we've been keeping pretty busy. Hardly have time to get on the computer. Been moving the truck almost non-stop since I got on early Monday morning. Done a lot of 10 - 11 hr drives. Working hard to improve my shift points, and utilize various methods to optimize fuel economy. It's coming along, but slowly. There is still, for me at this point, much to learn, remember, and put into practice regularly. Did get to drive the truck into my hometown, Chicago. That was exciting. Took US 65 through AR with a heavy load and got my arse kicked. That was not exciting, but I hope I learned from the mistakes I seemed to make over and over again. So far all is going well, other than I thought I knew more than I do. But again that is why I chose Prime training.

    JimTheHut Thanks this.

Emton, I have been following your posts (great info) I'm Going to orientation in 2 weeks. Can you request a trainer? I already have my CDL and didn't know if that was an option? Maybe U2 or if someone can recommend someone. Also I live in Dallas are there alot of loads going through this area?

    Thanks

I know we go to Texas quite a bit, although I have only rolled through on US 54. You can request a trainer, if you know someone that trains for Prime. As far as recommendations, I only know mine and I'll be with him for the next 10 weeks at least, probably longer. You may run into someone during orientation, otherwise Prime tries to set you up with someone from your area and compatible smoking wise.

CGot my pre-hire from Prime last week and am on track to graduate CDL training next week. Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect coming in as a C seat driver? Will I have road testing and backing skills testing or will I be assigned to a trainer? I can straight line back all day long, but the offsets are kickin' my butt right now! Just need lots of practice.:biggrin_255:

Got to drive the last two days in heavy traffic on local streets and the interstate. Wow! What an experience...I loved every minute of it and didn't want to get out from behind the wheel. Funny thing was even though the truck and trailer have STUDENT DRIVER marked all over it, people still cut us off at just about every stoplight or in slowing/stopping traffic. Can't wait to get more drive time next week so I can work on smoother downshifts and gear recovery.

Also, I want to give a big THANK YOU to ironpony and U2 for all of their posts. After reading through the many posts the two of you have contributed to the forum and getting to talk to a Prime driver that came back to visit the school I'm attending, I'm sure this is the place for me. Emton, thanks for continuing to post about your experience and be safe out there!
