Can I do an OTR or regional job with a day cab as an owner operator?

Why not? Might be a pain finding and paying for hotels every night though.

Buy a hammock & sling it up under the wagon for your 10hr break..

Actually, I've seen a hammock that hangs between the doors too..
    Looks cozy..

    You probably could but... why?

Daycabs are more maneuverable if you're making City deliveries.

But sleeper trucks ride better, they're more comfortable, you have more room, you have more space to carry things, even if you just want to take a nap you can stretch out in Comfort.

I love my sleeper truck and I would never want to have a day cab.

DOT will probably make sure you aren’t sleeping in the cab

DOT can kiss my backside if he tries.

That said can one really get restful sleep in a day cab? Even our Cascadias, which has a passenger seat that 1.5 times the width of a normal seat, I can only do a light doze laying down across the seats.

Those are good for 8-10 hours work a day. Perhaps some sporadic excursions and a night at a hotel. Overall, OTR in a day cab is nonsense. It would be like trying to hunt in Winter barefoot.
Technically, there is no sleeper berth. Does it mean no line 2 and no split sleeper berth provision?

    Alex Riojas Thanks this.

I don’t even like doing local work with day cabs, easier to park a small bunk in the yard every day then sleep over the wheel

The big problem will be paying for motel every night. If you don't mind paying for one then is would not be a problem. Remember you can't log sleeper berth time in day cab. I heard on satellite radio of company that runs day cabs cross country. Their drivers stay in motels every night. So it's possible

Alex Riojas and stillwurkin Thank this.
