I saw a relatively cheap International S2300 single axle truck for sale for a decent price and was trying to find information on using such a vehicle to haul around my car trailer for personal use. I have a 24’ enclosed car hauler bumper pull trailer, and this truck has a gooseneck hitch, fifth wheel and ball/pintle hitch with all the connectors and a brake controller. I live in Ohio, but would want to drive around the country for car events. I have a class B CDL and would not be opposed to getting my A if needed, but I wanted to know if there’s anything specific or a weird setup to just drive a truck like that, as if it was a pickup truck.

Apologies if this is in the wrong section!

Now I don't know now all the specifics to your question, but I bought my truck from family that was using it for personal use.

It's a single drive axle FLD120 freightliner. They were using it to pull a 3horse slant with living quarters. Daughter barrel races, & they live in TN. Went all over the country as I recall. Just had a not for hire decal on the side..

I've also seen quite a few folks dragging RV's with road tractors too..
May want to peruse some of the rv web sites. They may know the Ohio law better..

One thing to note. These car events. Is there ever any prize money/goods?
If so then you need to follow all commercial laws as it's no longer personal.

Now if it is truly personal, all you need to do is register it as such, get the correct insurance (personal) and you are good. That's assuming OH allows it to be registered personal. Some states don't.
