I'm originally from your area, but moved up "north" to get out of the city craziness. Two areas you can check are hauling municipal trash (I see lots of trash haulers with walking floors from Miami up here- they haul to the dumps up here, then head to one of the local lumber mills and get a load of pine chips to haul back south to landscape suppliers), and also check with large crane companies, especially the ones that have a lot of tower cranes. They usually need quite a few drivers hauling tower crane sections and mobile crane counterweights and such. I actually worked for one such company years ago, and eventually became a crane operator. Also, the pay isn't great (but they do have bennies) but sanitation companies are always looking for rolloff container haulers.
Good luck and hope this helps.

There is lots of container freight moving to the port. Go nose around Hialeah along the river and ask around if there's any jobs hauling containers.

sure, find a container company that's hiring inexp. drivers. You'll generally work 4 am to 6 pm, 5 days per week, unlikely you'll ever touch freight to unload. Depending on the area, you might work days or evenings, or you might be gone overnight occasionally. You'll be paid crap to begin with, drive crappy equipment, and haul even crappier trailers.
