If I had my choice I would rather drive in the daylight and if I do drive at night/dark, which I do alot of, I prefer clear skies and good weather, like PB mentioned but most times you really dont have a choice, so you adjust accordingly.

I prefer to drive during the day. I can see farther. No I do not have a night vision problem. Also I have had periods of time that all I did was night driving.

I prefer night, less traffic, but this time of the year, it gets interesting with all of the deer trying to cross in front of you.
Worst time is around dusk or just before. -
I'm a night driver, wouldn't change it for nothing. Bad weather i prefer daylight of course.

I love night driving. I'm one of those vampire drivers tho. I start to fade as the sun comes up. I have to pull over and wait for the sun to come completely up and then I can continue

I love night driving, I just hate the time between 5am and 7am when I get the most tired

We ran shifts and there are some drivers that would only take the night shift. There's less traffic. The boss is at home. And we got paid a dollar more per hour for shift defferential. For us It's great if you have no home life but you mess more of what's going on because you have to sleep when everyone else is up.
We had three days off if we wanted it every week. So I would stay up my first day off and then go to bed at normal time. When it came time to go back to work I would spend the afternoon sleeping. Our shifts were 6pm to 6am. It's hard on your body and that's why the company pays a dollar more per hour to drive at night.
But when I was OTR I just drove when my hours were good. I was lucky because most of my jobs I didn't have to wait on any dock time. Driving at night can be safer and dangerous. When you've had plenty of rest then you're ready to go but when you're worn out and it's raining or snowing it can be miserable. I would say a mix of hours would be best and of course a good trip plan where you miss all the nasty traffic is best. -
