I just had this problem with a 2014 DD15. Would not maintain high pressure. Had to replace injectors. They were leaking back. Luckily under warranty!

i know this was awhile ago but im having the same problem. ive been trying for days!! what size is that fitting on the filter housing. i cannot seem to get anything to get a good tight fit
-
how were you able to find out they were leaking back? what can i look for to see if maybe that is my problem as well -
Sorry, not sure. It was at my Detroit shop.

The Detroit DD## fuel pumps are lubricated by the fuel. When you crank and crank a pump that doesn't have prime you are putting serious wear on the pump. You may even find metal in the filters next time you change them. If you have a shop and want to do your own PM's then you should invest in a priming pump. I don't know why that hand primer doesn't work but it never does on my DD15. It always takes a priming pump to get it started after a filter change.

I replaced my hp fuel pump yesterday. pumped 500 times by hand primer and it did not bleed the system. I will try bag spryer setup today.

I pumped for over an hour. Maybe I shouldn't have, but I resorted to ether. I think the seals in those pumps must go bad with age.
FYI the first PM after I changed my pump I found metal in my small fuel filter. The second and third PM's I didn't. -
why did you change the pump? pressure issues?

I had idling issues, and I had oil leaks behind both the fuel pump and the compressor. When I checked on the price of a new fuel quantity valve it was $750. But a new fuel pump with a new fuel quantity valve installed was $1250, so it seemed prudent to just do them both. I couldn't see pulling a million mile pump off and putting it back on.
