DD13 or DD15

no way...505 hp you saw on engine label... that's a bs. you need to hook up computer to see actual rating value. it will be 455hp and less.

D13 only went to 500 in Volvo

DD13 had rating up to 505 but most penske were set low HP , around 400

Our company fleet has been switching over to 500 hp / 1,850 Volvo’s . We pull 140,000 lbs, they keep up just fine.
The new DD13 is rated up to 505 / 1850, not sure about a 2014 model.

 

its possible to have 505hp DD13 . You need to order it. its a special order. The problem is not the ability of engine to have 505 hp. \The problem is the aftertreatment 1 box. there are two kind of 1 boxes. Standard and for high HP. I have seen high hp 1 boxes for DD15 but never seen for DD13.

 

The dd15 rates to 1750 and the dd13 rates to 1850 and they have identical hp ratings of 505.. go figure.. I’ve driven both and thought the dd13 was a little less junk than the dd15.. most fleet trucks are spec 450ish hp and 1650tq so it don’t matter.. I had better mpg with the dd13 also
