Finally got some "straight" advice....rather some real time information. Seems, the filter change (or clean/bake) doesn't need to be done until the warning light on the dash appears. Once lit, the truck has approximately 10k miles to get into the shop. Also, the light, depending on type of use...idling, dirt roads, environment stuff.....will show up at some point between 265k and 700k....or it might not show at all!
Got to love this positive thought process. Ergo, preventative maintenance is a thing of the past I guess!
DD13 vs DD15 might even think Dd16

What they did not tell you is that the entire system can fail. You will be lucky to be able to limp a few hundred miles when that happens. Even one bad sensor can disable the truck. This applies to almost every make! The cleaning of a DPF is the least of our worries.
Oldironfan Thanks this. -
I sent mine in this weekend to replace the DPF filter. On Monday I checked on my copy of Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link and the DPF ash accumulator said I was at 98%. The next day it did a successful passive regen on my way to Calgary. I didn't get any warning lights yet, but after checking with my dealer I decided to get it done under my terms rather than wait maybe another week or two and wind up lord knows where.
One of the other drivers had a 2009 Cascadia with the DD15, the light came on but his boss said to keep driving it until it shut him down. When it finally did they found the DPF filter was melted down.
They quoted me $800 for the filter plus four hours labour. -
Anymore guys running (2011-2012) dd15's?
-
I have 2012 dd15
-
Which one do you have?
I'm looking at the 455hp/475hp/505hp engine models for the Freightliner C125 '12 and '13 years and I'm noticing similar price ranges for the 400k-470k milers. How many miles have you ran on yours and what is your current mileage?
I'd like to see what more people think about the 475 and 505 engines once they're in their 400,000-600,000 mile range. -
I will write about my experience with dd15. let me ask you why dd15 ? do you haul heavy loads or have reefer ?
Oldironfan Thanks this. -

Thank you.
It will be to pull tank, so yes. -
you better get a truck with cm2350 isx engine. that will be 2013-2014 isx engine which has good power and not problematic as cm2250 engine however it burns a little more diesel compared to dd15.
I have 475hp dd15. actually 455, 475 and 505 engines are same and only ecm softwares are different. I bought that truck when mileage was 280k. At 450k (last December) engine got ####ed up. The Detroit did inframe (engine block) under warranty. I had few emission related problems last two years but not expensive repairs. I had problems with Cascadia multiplexing system and that was hemorrhoid. Still suffering. remember if you will buy a dd15 you will need to buy a laptop with diagnostic software and interface cable. because every 2-3 week you will have check engine on for some stupid reasons/failures. going to dealer to reset them will be costly.
