I have 5 dd13 and they have been great so far. They are all in daycab cascadias. We run 84k in dirt trailer and we are in south Texas. They are averaging about 6mpg and I have had very little to no issues with them to this point. An actuator and egr valve on one and a engine harness on another. They pull just fine and the oil changes are really easy as the filters come out vertically upwards. Mine are all 15-16 model year. They are 410/1450 settings as we are all local but they do fine at those settings. The next group of trucks I buy will be the 410/1650 settings.
DD13 vs DD15 might even think Dd16

your engine has 500 hp. I was in the distributor shop and they said no way to get opened up to 560hp. 505 hp that's the max can be with 1 box ATD. epa07 engines can be opened up to 565 hp.
-
I stand corrected, I thought it said 500 hp before, but I had the cruise power parameter set to rating 1.
I just printed it out from the truck and confirmed it is set at 561 hp 1850.54 ft-lb torque.Attached Files:

yeah it's 560hp. your engine can be set 500 or 560 hp by DDDL(rating 1 and rating 0) . My engine have 455 and 475 hp options. If I will need 500 hp I will need reflash my mcm.

cm2250 had major failures due to ceramic plungers. cm2350 (early models) have piston rings carbon packing failures like cm2250. Only in the middle of 2015 cummins updated cylinder liners with carbon anti polishing ring for cm2350.
-
do you think dd15 does not have carbon packing issues ? since 2014 dd15 comes carbon scraping rings installed.. have you heard about metal shavings in the fuel system due to hp pump failure on dd15 ?
-
I always do oil analysis to keep an eye on things, no soot issues.
Just last week I got a service bulletin saying to only use the compuchek fitting to prime the fuel system. I wonder if they think any metal shavings from the pump may be caused by cranking the engine with a dry pump after a filter change as the fuel normally lubricates it. -
bad quality fuel causes fuel pump failures. few mounts a go bad(not enough lubrication added) fuel caused massive failures of DD 13, 15 pumps in Shreveport, LA area.
Detroit has service letter saying that carbon buildup can be minimized by cleaning delta p sensor's ports every 60-80k miles. on some engines delta p sensor must be updated(pre 2012 engines). -
Where do you get those bulletins
-
from Detroit's web site. I have limited access there. my friend has full access because he is an employee and he helps me if i need something service bulletin/letter related. Some bulletins I get by email from Detroit. Some 18sp publications are free available on Detroit's web site.
