More horses actually provide better economy. And doesn't use as much fuel or engine time as you get there faster.
Definitely more funner to pass slower trucks or cars.

What states actually enforce a 12,000 pound steer axle weight limit? I have gone through many weight stations well over 12,000 lbs and have never had any issues. I thought most states were 20,000 lbs on the steer axle limit.

Every other time I come into Minnesota from Hudson Wi they run me up on the scale because when I hit the rolling scale its close enough to the 12,000 limit it triggers me to have to stop and weigh it.JohnAyala999 and Blagoje Thank this.

12000 isn't a limit.
New trucks these days have 13000 or higher limits.
You can put 13000 on the steers as long as your not overgross on the 80000 -
I know all about Oregon.
I got the personal one on one lecture with the scale. -
Well, ALMOST correct (for Minnesota at least):
MN Truck Weight Calculator
The tractor (steer and drive tandems) cant exceed 48,000 pounds (which is going to be interesting with electric trucks). And its 600 pounds per inch on the steers. Doesnt change the fact that half the time Im coming into Minnesota with an empty box and full tanks they pull me up on the scale.

snowwy Thanks this. -
Curious as to why the 3 axle trailer.
When the drive maxes out before the tandem.
Or does that trailer work differently? -
I have no idea. It was from the link from North Dakota State University that I embedded. I would assume to show what a 3 axle weight is vs a tandem, since a tandem is shown on the tractor.
