That’s a good question. I think jakes and injectors would have to be used together, if at all. I think the adjustment specs on jakes are different. Newer ones don’t back off, different injector heights? I’m not sure. You can look it all up in Detroit manual. Probably sell it as a core, if the blocks good. If not, I’d definitely keep the inner and outer front covers, if they’re still good. They’re $1000-$2000 used, if you can find them. Also the rear cover. Any accessories, like the fan, if only for a core, or to rebuild for yourself. Heads worth something as a core. Flywheel, intake, exhaust , oil cooler housing. Oil pan, whatever’s left. Never know when you’ll need it. Can always sell the parts.
Old dirty trucker Thanks this. -
That’s what I thought to, I’ve took the water pump, air compressor and three piece jake off and reused so far. It had a 2 piece on it. So I guess I run the over head the same just gap the jakes like I did on my 96 engine ,and the valves and injectors for what the engine model calls for Thanks for the reply

Got my truck running Friday after we swapped fuel pumps. Man it sounds great. We hooked up to the ECM and to my surprise it was a 500hp stock tune of a 2000 BK. My truck is a 2002 470 MK. He gave me the wrong ECM but I’ll keep it because of 30 more hp for free. Any problems I should know about this??? or should I try and get the original for the truck. He said he had 3 if it didn’t work just let him know
