If you lease on with a company., and they want you to pick up the load from their yard. Go drop it off at location unknown. And dead head back to their yard for the next load. If it is your trailer and truck, can you find another load and bring it back close to the companys location. Is this possible.

Its going to depend on the terms of your contract. I know you can do that at my company, but they want compensation for your use of their equipment - the trailer, plus you have to have insurance for the equipment and the load. Can't tell you the details - never really looked into that part of it yet.

Officially, even though it's your truck/trailer, it's their authority, right? So, officially, you need to get an OK from them, but, un-officially, you could do it if you could arrange payment direct to you, not them.

    groundpounder Thanks this.

Few of the drivers in my family used to practice this back in the days before qualcomm in company trucks. I wouldn't recommend it now days because almost all your moves are tracked through your qualcomm. Besides what happens if you get there and they can't unload it right away and you have to sit for awhile?

Nobody is going to let you haul a load for them unless you are setup with a carrier package signed by the company official and the insurance faxed to them naming them as additional insured. Also a copy of your W9 with the companies federal FEIN and authority document. And, when all is said and done, the check will be made out to the company and sent to them.

Even though it's your own truck it's still their authority and cargo insurance. You cannot haul loads on your own unless you have your own authority.
