i would put the kingpins in my priority list just because the price of tires. Whenever it's time for kingpins on one of my trucks i get em from a buddy of mine instead of the dealer simply because the oem one s have plastic that is made to wear out eventually so i use some custom made ones out of australia , they are made of bronze and in my case have outlasted oem ones incredibly ,
About a year ago i was getting loaded and the landscaper's lawnmower broke down and to my luck threw a rock in my right through my windshield i stopped in was in joplin and there was a guy on cb called himself glass man i got it replaced for 180 on my w9 one piece curved if you go through there you might wanna give him a holler

Its 'supposedly' beyond the adjustment range ???
I told them if they wanted to work with me - FINE, otherwise I will keep looking.
I am still on a search for a local shop I can trust. Thats not ez to find.
I got 2 places in MO, but thats 500+ miles away... -
Wow , man, if you don't do some or alot of your own work, it gets very expensive !!!!
-
I can do many things but w/o tools and physical help for heavy stuff, I am somewhat limited here. It sucks but thats the way it is I guess.
-
Well it's picked up. I let KW do some of the work but not all of it. I want a 2nd opinion on some of the items......
-
Why don't you just rebuild it? -
2 other shops I had DOT my truck told me the 5th wheel is FINE.
So, I am not planning on doing anything with it. Kingpins are all thats left at this point for a full passing DOT. Thats next on the list.... -
ITEMS FOUND FOR REPAIR, ITEMS ARE DOT FAILURE:
Call around get best price.
I would have repaired, probably not at dealer.
Frame/Alignment shop, and would have repaired, will cause tire wear. Could be a control issue soon.
This maybe the only repair I would have the dealer complete.
Anybody can do brakes. When I do the drives I do them all, opinion.
My 5th wheel had adjustments for the play, if it exceeds the adjustment I wouid change it, heavy not difficult.
First off they are appearing to honest, it clearly states these repairs are not DOT required. But I would have the item repaired. Some dealers will play lets make a deal to get the price down, some won't. I think all the repairs are necessary, but price wins also. -
Everything was done but kingpins.
Rear input shaft play - I didnt buy that.
2nd dealer found nothing wrong with the rear shaft or the 5th wheel.
No negotiating with KW but almost everything came in lower than estimate.
I had another dealer slap some brakes on (they were on sale) and did the entire FWD REAR axle. The REAR REAR has enough meat on them. The 2nd dealer waived the $70 shop charge fee if I opted to have them done there. I paid just a tad over $160 each side (new shoes/drums/hardware/labor). The job is ez enough but w/o tools and jacks and a way to get the rims off (at home) I was kinda stuck.
The new windshields were installed by Autoglass. The seal had to be totally replaced. That wasn't cheap and I dont want just anyone to do that.
So? - it's all good. I am working on finding someone to do the kingpins/alignment.
Wingfoot has a guy that does this. $1200-1500 for the entire job and he told me they will only use "Kaiser" parts (or something like that).
Problem is I am rather out of funds right now. I am not running the rig OTR at the moment, so I might just wait on this last part....
