    Neither a spun bearing nor a patched drive axle mean a deficient DOT inspection. Those are mechanical/physical inspection items.

    Yes, you can get independent inspections and dyno runs done. I did on several trucks from 1,000-2,000 miles away, sight unseen, before I bought my truck.

    Sounds like you saw a pretty truck, drove it around the block, kick the tires and wrote a cheque. You depend on the truck to earn you a living, you need to do some homework before you buy. Oil samples, maintenance history, ECM download. Hell even put on a pair of coveralls and crawl around underneath it for a half hour or so.

    Can you tell us what Dealership? Any new truck dealer should work with you on this if thy are even half ### reputable.

    I bought a used truck from The Larson Group which has numerous Peterbilt locations. They removed the valve cover prior to me buying it. Obviously I had to pay for it.

    I wouldn't buy a used truck without having the valve cover removed.
