What do you do to your car to keep it ready if you only get home once a month or less? I've only ever worked for companies with terminals near my home and got home each weekend. Do you use those solar battery maintainers and fuel stabilizers? How do you do it?

Just having a brand new battery helps. I've gone up to 6 weeks so far and it starts right up. Especially during the winter months be sure to top off the gas tank to prevent condensation in the tank. I also put premium in for a little assurance.
tscottme, MidWest_MacDaddy and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Good ideas, I was thinking of Stabil fuel treatment. Thanks for reminding me about a full tank.Ryan423 Thanks this.

Full tank and disconnecting the battery.
tscottme and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
I know it's not what you'd expect, but do a pretrip on it, too. Make sure to unplug any electronics, like a phone charger, GPS, etc. I like the solar cigarette lighter trickle charger idea. I actually have a spare battery in my truck bed, so I don't worry about disconnecting it.
tscottme Thanks this. -
Although I do need to get a locking hitch pin, that tri-ball hitch was expensive. Don't want anyone deciding they need it more than me.

Somebody stole my pintle hook about 10 years ago even though it had a locking hitch pin.
If I'm going to park my vehicle for a long period of time someplace I would leave the hitch or pintle hook at home. -
When I was out with my trainer (2 months) I was certain my battery would be dead upon returning home... I even bought a new one before actually getting home... #### thing turned right over (Suzuki Sx4 Sport). But I do have a battery maintainer now, just in case.tscottme Thanks this.

I don't worry about it. If the battery can't maintain. It's probably time for a new one. as for disconnecting. You cause electrical spikes which can damage the computer. Unless your vehicle is older then 1980. Some cars will even trip the air bags. Your computer also goes into not ready mode when connected back up. it takes 60 miles to reset itself. Same thing as clearing the codes.
rachi, tscottme and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this.
