How the heck is THIS gonna fly when you have a trainee?? (or DO you already?!?)

Crap, I dunno. I'm mostly D/H and the live load/unloads are all I/P company so..... company folk.

(I'm not liking your company from afar, haha!)

Many lumper services are not using paper Comchecks anymore. It's all online with code numbers now.

So is that why sometimes another unloader hands off his cellphone? Always wondered.

I didn't have to deal with lumpers after switching to tankers.
Pulling reefers I usually unloaded my load and pocketed the lumper fee, resulting in an extra $200 - $500 or more tax free money in my pocket each week.

In general, people don't use checks near like they once did. I bet I might write 2 maybe 3 checks a year now. I can see how using an app hooked up to a bank account saves money and is so much easier. I have noticed some retailers like Walmart will not put a check in their cash drawers anymore. They run it through a machine, once ran the money has been transferred. I remember when the flying fishhook only took a code.

Ask a driver from your company to give you some Comchecks. TA/Petro will give you a couple for free at the fuel desk. You can also ask all the drivers at the receiver for a check. Someone is going to have one, especially Comchecks.

There are 2 things a company driver needs to do EACH and EVERY time they are in a terminal. Before you leave that terminal take your permit book inside and make sure ALL your permits are up to date. Make sure you have enough supplies. This means blank checks (Comdata, EFS) get as many as your company will let you have. Make sure you have enough of the transflo scan sheets if your carrier is still using them. Back in my active days, this was also getting 2 or 3 log books, today I don't know how the pre/post-trip inspection books are being used. Make a point to try to remember to do this. If you don't get by the terminal enough see if you can get these things mailed to you.

Your company doesn't provide you with blank comchecks for these type of unloads?

I know one thing, I sure an the Hell wont be running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to scrounge up the check the pay the lumper... The company should have that figured out...

Go to the reciever to get the amount needed, go to the truckstop to get that amount, then go back to the reciever... I dont think so. Not happening.

The Lumper will have every kind of CK in his pocket or one of the other ones will have a com/ck thats how they get paid
