I understand they are afraid of some fraudulent detention claims but many times the detention occurrence is as evident as a tornado aftermath in which case it is like them saying that they would not pay a painter, even though the wall color changed.

And evading detention claims by communications failures excessive hold times and other human sneaky ways is also a form of fraud in itself is it not?

    Indeed.

I don't want to be seen as the meanie here. You sit at a bad shipper all day and you want that 600 dollars you lost sitting there all day. It costs BIG money to run a 18 wheeler. What part of costs big money do tney not understand?

(Sotto voce.... might be better to ditch all day loading shipper for someone else.)

It is not even that much. The hourly detention average is somewhere between $30 - 50 / hour with a daily cap of $250. For anything better, you need to negotiate prior to booking a load.

But yes, they need to pay a driver something, just like they need to throw a bone to a dog.

Driver gets paid or driver gets paid detention?

    These are two different scenarios...

What would be the reasonable rate to pay the driver on the lost day ?! This would be my first time loosing so much time , not like he is asking but i would compensate because he is valuable asset .

What do you pay him on an average day? Figure that and pay him that.

Is he off on weekends? Or take a 34? Easy solution would be take his average week and divide by how many days he normally works and that will give you his daily average. And that’s what you should pay him for losing a day.

He is percentage paid , coming home whenever he wants ( reasonably ) , usually he is 2nd or 3rd weekend home .
...got the point though :) .
