I know 4 drivers that would snatch that up since it pays for fuel... I'm sure some will take it for 1200...
Anything into FL should be min 2$/mi.

What!? Minimum $2 a mile into Florida!? Driver everyone out here offers $2 a mile into Florida. It's a posted rate I see all the time... For the intimidated and too shy to ask for more money that's a "book it with no haggle" rate into Florida.
I think the bigger problem here is so many are enamored by "$2 a mile" rate on a long haul. Do you realize what the reload situation is in Florida right now for vans and reefers?
$2 a mile into that hole is not anywhere near enough let alone any kind of reasonable minimum. And I guarantee you it isn't the usual going rate to get a spot load down to there. It's a sucker rate for suckers and the brokers love fools who take them.JimmyWells, driverdriver, Oxbow and 3 others Thank this. -
Sorry RC, I don't head down that way, so that's why I said the 2 per mile minimum. I thought it was an okay price for a minimum...
I will be honest that I do NOT know the Florida market. I just don't mess with it for many reasons.
Though I'm wrong in what I thought was a minimum. Sorry man! -
Perhaps, the author of this thread wants to get going and not too much staff can be offered to him yet, so he'd take cheap rate to get his feet wet. Just eager to start and be active. If financially stable, he should be all right a few months or so, before he has learned better. Of course, it pisses off everybody else, who try to make an honest living. But nothing you could do...Big_D409 Thanks this.

It isn't just the independents taking that garbage. Company fleets take it as well for their return load going back out.

Hearing you guys saying all these rates to be more than 2.50 down to Florida, my expectations have bumped up. If I could go 2.50 / 3 a mile from Chicago down to Miami and then deadhead back up to Georgia and take that loathed cheap freight back up home (1dol a mile?) And repeat the process every week I would be more than ecstatic. But sadly, I know guys from around here that go down there and never mentioned such figures, but they b...tch and bi..tch Well, you never know before you try it yourself.
But let's joke and calculate it like this ((2.5×1500+1×800)-((3000÷6.5)×2.25))×4=14046.15 a month.
Wow, after fuel cost, this looks good.Last edited: Sep 30, 2016

Everything going to Chicago is cheap. I know guys who do 1.75-2 to Florida. For example one guy has 5 trucks, when there is no good freight available, he just gets something to pump the miles, cause if drivers don't get miles, they gonna quit. He can't sell the trucks, because he bought them brand new two years ago and would lose a fortune selling them right now,so he just keeps the wheels rolling

If you think you're going to get anything decent out of anywhere GA Atlanta included boy are you in for a rude awakening. Sometimes I think it best if I just say nothing at all on here....

Again, I skipped ahead so forgive me if I am repeating. DAT has the rate from that MA to FL as $1.61 for what that is worth.
