first that isn't" bring home" it's net taxable income. second, it's atleast three grand less than you should be making if you had purchased a truck vs lease purchase.

2-6 are all good things for a potential leaser to discuss with other leasers, who can help them find a contract that doesn't do those things.
Another good reason for there to be a lease operator subforum
I think lease is the option of choice for less experienced drivers who want to have more operating control. It could be as simple as wanting to bring their dog along. People may have a lot of different reasons.
Instead of wagging fingers at all the leasers, wouldn't it be better to help them find a good lease, and know the tricks? What do you tell a guy who's already in a lease? "Dumb move" "Too bad for you". What's he supposed to do with that information?
If there were a proper subforum, maybe discussions would get going between leasers about how to get out? How to become owner op? Useful descriptions of how some other guy managed it.
It's certainly more than you make as a company driver.landstar8891 and rickybobby Thank this. -
I am looking at my settlement as we speak on my L/S online...After deductions i brought 7100.00 home in 12 days...6K in 30 days is still chump change as an O/O...One breakdown and you are finished...
-
That's grand. I personally brought home roughly 7200.00 in the last 30 days. Thats after my expenses and I put a little over 2000.00 back on top of that in a tax exempt maint account that I option.
Thats 9200+ net in 30 days running mileage with DART. Not percentage. I'm happy with what I make. I'm happy with the business model I run.
Its nice we have alot of rich O/Os here telling everyone now dumb it is to lease... Well it worked for me. I'm satisfied with how much I make. I personally I believe I've done pretty well at it. I've leased one truck to get started, ended up buying a used truck a few years later. I'm about to purchase a brand new one possibly within the next year. -
I will add there are some crooked deals out there. That doesn't mean all of them are.
If you can find a lease where you can make MORE money than you can as a company driver. To help you save to eventually buy a different truck why the hell wouldn't you? Especially if the lease like DART has, has a walk away option. To me it seems like the best way to go as you also get the Experiance of trying to budget fuel costs, maint costs, and all the other costs that come with being an owner operator before getting stuck with a truck payment and finding out it can be alot more of a headache than you thought. -
Another my mama is better than your mama, thread...
jdrentzjr Thanks this. -
No that is his bring home running with a lease. After all of is expenses and after he puts money back for maint and taxes.
