That is flat out discrimination, how could any company get away with that?

I have seen Deboars equipment our west here a few times . Scary is all I can say.

Probably have to many drivers and not enough miles. If you went there in the Summer they might of kept you, even if you ran the risk of keeling over. :biggrin_25520:

Yep, that'd be me. I've weighed between 120 and 130 since high school... I'm almost 6'.

I've been tossed around like a rag doll trying to close a trailer door in strong winds. Heck, I've been tossed around by the wind just walking through a parking lot... I hate wind!:biggrin_25523:

I don't know. I have heard this about one other company too. I just don't see how they could do it without getting the butts sued.
I have talked to them before and there wages were too low. Looks like they have raised them now. I spoke to them recently because they have region runs in the TX, OK, NM and AZ. which is where I love to run and I need a job for just a few months. but there's no way I'll hit that 40% BMI. I think mine was 50% which was about 30 pounds ago but still

Well it's true. the recruiter told me this himself. I can't believe he actually put it in an email. hmm... an I post that? not sure if that's right or not but I have it if anyone want to see it... Or start a class action suit! lol.

I found an article that deals with this particular situation. In this case, the EEOC filed suit on behalf of the driver and lost. They also lost an appeal. It's here: http://www.logisticstoday.com/displayStory.asp?sNO=8524

I think this falls under the same category as a corporation like Hooter's--that obviously get away with not hiring a 700 lb hottie to serve you wings in silky orange shorts and a half tee. Maybe it's because it would cause undue financial hardship on the corporation--can you imagine the cost of the cotton to cover those 77 EEE's?:biggrin_2556:

BMI is about the worse indication of physical fitness there is. That is what is getting under my skin about this. I'm 6'1" and I'm by no means skinny. But my bmi come is somewhere around 49% Bmi only take height and weight into consideration. I'm not as big as half the guys out there, been driving 13 years and never failed a physical. In my younger days I was a football play and a weight lifter. I guarantee you take any football player etc and there bmi will be over 40%.
thing like this just ware a guy down after awhile ya know.

I think it has more to do with liability issues. I am sure these outfits get lots of legal advise before they put the policy in place.

I really don't think aesthetics had anything to do with it. They just have to keep high risk employees out to keep their insurance premiums affordable

Company's discriminate all the time, including the feds. It's called affirmative action.

Do I look too fat to drive a truck???? Especially for a company who boasts about 95% drop and hook and almost no loads that need touching.

The more I think about this the madder it makes me. :biggrin_25516:
