You are NEVER supposed to edit your logs. Your DM can edit them, and it doesn't count against either of you.
I just realized my student didn't log either of us off-duty almost 4 hours ago...Now I have to call Kelly in the morning, and have her fix it... -
I have asked my dm to edit my logs before, it never happened. So since its not in the dot regulations, and my Cdl depends on it I edit them as needed and then approve to send in. I don't recall seeing this rule in the employee handbook. Do you?
-
it doesn't matter if its DOT or not may doesn't want u doing it theres alot of tHings u can do that's legal but may would like that u don't do.why do u need to edit your Logs so much ive had my dm edit my logs 3 times in
16 months -
Too be honest, I don't know that May's policy on your DM being the one who edits your logs for you would stand up under legal scrutiny by the DOT if anyone ever filed a claim against them. Would it be okay for me to have someone else keep and edit my paper logs and then sign them on my behalf?
-
The reason that May doesn't want you to edit is that they have guys edit their logs and falsify on duty time and get caught. Also, when or if they get audited on their logs, the auditors look at three things: unnasigned tractor time, unassigned mileage and log edits. May figures that if they control the edits and it shows that your dm edited the log and not the driver it would look better in an audit.
I personally hate having to go to my dm for a one minute log edit because the system switched me to on duty too quickly when I just want to go off duty for a break. -
Specifically, I was pulling into walmart dc to check in after permission verbally to bring.my load early. Upon checking in, security would not let me in without confirmation. I was still on duty. 45 mins later I go in to check to get in and get my dock. I then go off duty 1 hour on duty not driving then sit from 1630 to 2330 off duty and a 2nd stop at 0630 next day. Well I must show 8 hours on sleeper right? So I must edit my clock and go in sleeper. Tomah walmart is so slow I do go to sleep while waiting I just forgot to note it via qc.

So much for not being able to alter elogs. -
Platinum - Is your DM out of Brooks?

Hey G-Man, how you doing brother?
It is impossible to edit the drive time. The on duty time is available to edit simply because it is possible to have a driver error. For example: Go to the sleeper and forget to move to the sleeper from your past position because your tired or what have you... However, driving time is driving time and that would not be a driver error, so it is not possible to edit.
Merry xmas to ya.
