Heyl has a terminal in zephyrhills, Cypress is flatbed and has a terminal by the Air Force base, they also offer real OTR if you want it, but most of their drivers get home weekly.

Quality Carriers has an HQ in Tampa. They have terminals ALL OVER the US. If you have at least 1 year of CDL driving you should check them out. Each terminal is it's own world with it's own freight and customers, different methods of paying drivers, and with pretty good benefits. Being a tanker company the customers are generally much better than most dry van customers. I worked for QC near Nashville, TN for 3 years. I was generally happy with the company and pay. I think I got $75-80k as a company driver and was home most weekends.

Things may've changed in the last 25 years, but from what I saw of Florida-based trucking companies, I'd suggest you look for a carrier which has a lot of Florida freight, but is based outside of the state.

Look at Kottke Trucking from Buffalo Lake MN. They have a Florida terminal 800 833 5385 Their terminal is in Davenport FL.

As a driver at Kottke, you will be dispatched out after completion of the orientation program. Please be sure to bring items you’ll need in the truck as well as the following items:
Locations - Kottke Trucking, Inc. (kottke-trucking.com)
- Valid Class A CDL from your state of residence
- Social Security Card
- Blank voided check or bank-authorized document containing bank routing and account numbers (if enrolling in direct-deposit payroll)
- Current DOT medical documentation i.e. Long Form Physical and Card
- 10 year work history for DOT file
- Proper footwear and attire for your road test
- We will give you a $50 gift card to help you stock your truck at the conclusion of orientation
- 7-10 changes of clothes to include winter work clothing
- Personal hygiene materials (soap, deodorant, shaving materials, etc.)
- Medications that you are currently taking
- Bedding for a truck (sleeping bag, blankets, pillow)
- Alarm clock, flashlight, sunglasses, plus any glasses you must use when driving
- Reference letters or W-2 form for unemployment
- Child support court order if applicable
- Birth dates and social security numbers for family members you want to add to your insurance
