looking into them as well, I like that they have a former driver as CEO and I like their pay programEastCoastResident, OldeSkool and Chinatown Thank this.

Some cdl schools have a part time program for students that can't afford to quit their job while attending cdl school. Maybe the cdl school near you has that program.EastCoastResident Thanks this.

Listen to your mother

The other carriers aren’t even close to being on the same level as Old Dom.EastCoastResident, hdtennessee92, Speedy356 and 2 others Thank this. -

+1 old dominion
EastCoastResident, hdtennessee92, OldeSkool and 1 other person Thank this. -
The only thing I can add is that ODFL is typically a local, home daily job and the others are OTR. If you want to live in the truck and shed the cost of rent, a private vehicle, etc., or have this romantic idea of roaming far and wide, that might factor into your decision.
EastCoastResident, hdtennessee92, cuzzin it and 1 other person Thank this. -
They do have daily routes there but they also do OTR, my mom drove for them for a while and her route was OTR. I am probably going to want to go that route simply because of the money, etcEastCoastResident, OldeSkool and Concorde Thank this.

thank you! Haha, she is usually correct and I am most likely going to take her advice.
I have done a ton of research and OD always tops the others when it comes to pay and benefits. Plus I am only about 15 minutes from their terminal here and can stay at home while doing the first parts of training.
I just wanted to get some drivers’ opinions on how the company is currently. My mom last drove around 2014EastCoastResident, OldeSkool and Concorde Thank this. -
You’re not going to do any better than OD. You got a family to support and need good health benefits..the other carriers you listed are just beginner Bozo companies..
Lol, you don’t need your kids being teased in school about their mom being a Swift driver
No offense to Swift, personally I don’t see any problem with them but they have been the butt of the jokes forever.EastCoastResident, firemedic2816, OldeSkool and 2 others Thank this.
