YRC did not take long with me, but I don't know what steps they took. There is the initial app, then a second step where you log back in to authorise the background. If you did that it likely won't be long.

Depends on the terminal. Did you already do the physical and drug test? When I got hired with Reddaway after the interview they sent me to do both. Then the next week I was already in a truck. So it seemed they processed it pretty quick. Might be different at actual YRC.

I did the initial application, had my face to face and was hired on the spot by the TM on Thursday and he wanted me to start Monday. I asked "what about the drug test etc?) Apparently he thought I had already done that, so he had to call corporate and they sent the link to page where you sign off on the background etc. Who knows lol

I had my interview at 10 in the morning so I was assuming if he wanted to hire me, I'd be sent directly to do those 2 things but that wasn't the case. I tried calling my contact at YRC corporate the next day, who had been handling the application to see when they were looking at scheduling me for those 2 things, but after leaving a few voice mails and an email, I never heard back which was unusual as she had been very good at calling or emailing back all week. So I was left a bit in the dark at how fast they were wanting to proceed. I'm sort of in a limbo as I have a guy that's wants me to pick up his truck and be ready to go Monday, but I wouldn't want to do that just to quit on him in a few days when YRC decides to call. But if it's going to be anything like FedEx then I might as well run for him to make some money. Bill time is right around the corner and the bank account is sweating lol.

I've experienced uneven responses. Some of their recruiting people in Overland Park have other jobs in other buildings and do recruiting in addition to help them fill in.

Try the recruiting number. And try logging in to your account to see if there are items pending, they may have forgotten to notify you or the email got lost.

If they ghost you, it's their loss.

I hear ya. The TM sounded serious, but I hate to pass up a for sure thing with the o/o, only to get the run around or have them dislike something trivial during their investigation process. You never know with the big corporate companies.

Yeah I remember when I worked for FedEx it took 6 weeks to get approved. YRC needs bodies as bad as mega carriers. So I’d imagine it won’t take long. I’d call the TM instead. Ask him what is the next step. He might call corporate to get the ball rolling if they are lagging. If you have to work ASAP then go to the O/O till your stuff is approved. YRC won’t care. When i was at Reddaway we had a weird 3 months 2 years ago where it got real slow. One of our new hires worked for Denny transportation part time locally for that time to make ends meet. My company didn’t care. Dock guys do this a lot they work different jobs at different companies so it’s a normal thing.

Well that's interesting. My only problem there is, I hate to work for this guy for a few days, then have YRC call about scheduling my physical and drug test, because then I'd have to really think of something slick to get routed by the house so I could get that done. On top of that, this guy's been beyond accommodating and seems like a genuine dude, and I know in trucking alot of drivers couldn't care less, but I tend to avoid doing people dirty. For example, working for a week then taking off on the guy when he's just starting out down here after relocating and leasing on with this company etc. I look out for me, but I try not to throw people under the bus along the way. You tend to get back what you put out in the universe it seems.

One thing about this company is they are flexible. They are happy if you show up to work. Your gonna put up with not the greatest equipment but they are in the process of getting newer stuff. Reason they are hurting is because they pay the lowest in the LTL industry. Which is higher then the higher truckload jobs. They want experienced LTL drivers but nobody will take the pay hit to come over. So they are now becoming the mega carrier of LTL cause they can only hire inexperienced drivers. I took the job when I got fired from a Foodservice job. I actually made more money then with that previous job. No camera(what go me canned) nobody over my shoulder. Your gonna see a lot of vets that been there grumpy as hell. So just tune it out. I don’t know your previous income but you can make 65-70k in the city. If you go to linehaul 75k-80k plus. I’m thinking their gonna have to give at least the 15% back at the end of the year with the contract. They’ve been at -15% for 10 years I don’t think the morale can take another couple years. So it will be a decent pay increase for you but still behind the times for the LTL industry. Like I said they need people so you’ll have no worries while working there unless you really screw up. Like kill somebody with the tractor screwing up. Keep your nose clean for 90 days and your good until you want to leave or stay.

Yeah that’s a tough choice. I’d hound the crap out of YRC this week. That will probably let you know how long it will take.
