So I did receive a phone call back for melton and went through the pre-qual this week. They said everything looks great with my driving record and all of my endorsements. They offered me 33 cpm starting and 37 cpm after 6 months and 42 cpm after a year.
There orientation pay is lower then Roehls-400$ for melton and 600$ for Roehl. There driver training lasts a week longer at 21 days which I like but again the pay is lower at 70$ a day versus Roehls at 90$ a day.
I dont know that the miles will be there , i asked and they said about 2000 a week average but that includes there "part-timers".. Ill post I guess on the Melton forum for that.
Im just stuck because it seems like Meltons trucks have more ammenities but the pay seems to be low for flatbed.
What do you all think? -
you are not going to listen to advice that you ask for,so in this case if you are after only money offered then go with Roehl, might be out for a while,if you want to do flat bed then go to melton, and since you already took a physical for Roehl and you decide not to go there you will probably get a bill in the mail
-
and as far as feeling disgusted be thankful that you are getting offered that amount per mile just starting out,iv been out here 30 years and you are coming off a little arrogant to me
-
How am I not listening to advice?? I took the physical for Roehl BEFORE I realized I might be making a mistake...if I do get a bill, Oh well, Id rather pay 50 bucks then make a mistake in my first year.Chinatown Thanks this.
-
Wow dude, Really? So you like working for free then?? Why would I not try to choose the best company I can for my first year with the best pay rate.....Yeah stupid me!
-
Thanks Chinatown, I think thats where Im at with it too...been thinking about it all day and I think I really would enjoy the experience of flatbed while im still in my younger years. If they take the time to put at least a few creature comforts in there trucks the probably care a little more about their drivers.
