The dash cam was more than likely a credible witness. and chances are, whoever was watching on the other end got WAY more than they bargained for!

Not unless it’s clearly explained in company policy (written and/or oral) that you can’t have unauthorized persons in the truck.
Some companies do that for insurance/liability reasons. Some drivers don’t take the time to read the employee manual (if applicable).

Having said that, “Brotha Man” is SOL!

I agree to an extent. I wouldn't work for any company that wanted a camera facing inside the truck.

I can kind of see both sides of this issue, you’re living out on the road, probably 25 to 26 out of 30 days and you try to incorporate a little normalcy while living inside a truck and I don’t care how you twist it you are living in that truck. That says it’s a liability issue for the company. Some people think the trucks not moving so there’s no liability but let’s say you sneak prostitute into your truck and you do your thing and when she’s leaving, she slips and falls and cracks her head open because she doesn’t know how to properly climb out of a truck. Do you know who’s gonna get sued? The company. That said, I have a problem with being watched when I’m on off time. That’s my time. I’m not living in a fishbowl for someone to stare at through a camera.

The company probably really doesn’t care that you’re having relations somewhere. I mean we’re humans. That’s what we do. What they care about is exposing themselves to potential liability.

It matters totally who owns and pays for the space. If they give you something specifically for work, then that's what it is. They don't give us these trucks to make love connections, drink beer, do drugs, or any of that other stuff drivers do in the trucks. Even if there is no camera, you get caught with an unauthorized guest, they'll probably still fire you. Then you may have to worry about other drivers seeing you, especially if you work for the same company. You know every company has a snitch. It's one thing if he had brought his wife along, and she's an authorized rider, and they used the camera on them. To me, that's an invasion of privacy. To get a booty call from an unauthorized guest, dude needed to be smarter than that. I have no problem with drivers having fun on the road. Lord knows I have. Same with those drivers drinking beer in the truck......which many of you have frowned upon on many threads, if you're going to do something like that, just don't get caught. That was this guy's mistake......he got caught. Folks gotta learn to cover their butts if they're going to act up.

You know you opened my eyes up to the liability issue. I hadn't even thought about that part. Dude should have put some tape over that camera once he parked. Can't make it easy for someone to catch you fouling up.

They put a bed in it and expect you to sleep in it. It's a private space. Pretty simple.
