Hunt's point is a place all truck drivers need to experience. As is L.A. Chicago, Boston, the Grapevine, Eisenhower tunnel, Cabbage, G.W. bridge at 8 am and many more I can't think of. Now get out there and don't wimp out ! ! !![]()

I don't know about dedicated, but the times I've gone there, I've seen J.S. Helwig there, Navajo Express, R.E. Garrison, and Shaffer. I'd imagine Mast Trucking goes there. They have a presence in New York City.

Hunts Point is easy. It's not even deep into the city for real, and they let you park on the street to sleep, or if you pay to get into one of the markets, it's good for 24 hrs and they let you sleep there. You cross the bridge and it's there. If my company dispatched me to go to Hunts Point, it'd be a piece of cake. There are way harder deliveries in NYC than Hunts Point.

Speaking of the G.W., I often wondered about how much they take in daily. How much do you guys think they make a day with that overpriced bridge. I always wanted to say to them, how much?? Forget that, I'll swim across! LoLaustinmike and Tall Mike Thank this.

It’s been a couple of toll raises ago but The NY Times did an entire Sunday Magazine on the NY/NJ Port Authorities
They control all the interstate river crossing…The commuter trains between the city and Jerzy
The also were in charge of the World Rrade Center property among other things
They started drastically raising tolls within a year or two of September 11th…Claiming to be needed for WTC cleanup etc…,
When of course this costs were all being handled mostly by the Feds….with some from the city and state of NY…..)Without getting any more long window cause the article blew the door off the authority with some major consequences)
The times estimated they collected close to A Million and half dollars a week on commercial vehicles alone on the 4 river crossing bridges they control
This does not include the 2 tunnels or any passenger or less than 3 axle vehicelsaustinmike Thanks this. -
And they were immediately sued by AAA, since the Port Authority charter requires that bridge tolls only be spent on transportation, not on a commercial real estate venture. Port Authority immediately backtracked "no, that's not what we mean. Of course the tolls all go to transportation." Yeah right. In addition to the bridges and tunnels, and the PATH train between NJ and Manhattan, the Port Authority also operates the area's airports (LaGuardia, JFK, Newark, Teterboro, Stewart). They collect like a $3 per passenger fee that's included in your ticket price whenever you fly through these facilities. And Port Newark/Port Elizabeth, the busiest container port on the east coast. The Port Authority does pretty much nothing but print money.‘Olhand Thanks this.

Go find the closest chicken plant.Tell them you want to run hunts point and watch the smiles come on
austinmike, ibcalm19 and Numb Thank this. -
Talking about tolls, going into Canada from Detroit they used to have one both that there scale didn't work and they would ask you how much you weigh to charge you. I'd been there before, but one time my mind was occupied with other stuff, and I meant to say 40k but I said 4k and they charged me that rate. I couldn't believe it!
